In cooperation with non-profit Friends and Family Community Connection, Gathering Place church with several North County Inland churches have joined together to form Community Care and Prayer (CCP). Community Care and Prayer provides a place for low income families to receive practical and spiritual encouragement in a supportive community setting. There are struggling families right in our neighborhoods that need help to make ends meet when one of the wage earners is laid off or hours are reduced. CCP helps families stretch their budget by providing supplemental food so that children can feel secure and parents are encouraged. We do this through a variety of outreaches and resources.
Families are identified through strong relationships with schools and local agencies. CCP connects families with community services such as referrals and health screenings. Groceries are collected from food drives and monetary donations and distributed to families in need on a monthly basis.
There are many ways to volunteer with CCP. One of the opportunities is to help at one of three locations that operate a free grocery distribution for invited families once a month. The evening begins with a brief time of prayer and worship. Volunteers then pair up to help with hospitality, shopping, children’s activities, or the prayer team.
Families are encouraged to volunteer together, and CCP is fantastic a place to meet other volunteers in our community. For more details, locations, and other ways to be a source of hope and help, visit the CCP website here.
