Elder
What I Do For GPC: Elder; ministry team leader; and connect group leader.
What I Do For Fun: Fly fishing for trout in mountain streams with hand-tied flies that match the hatch. Spending time in my woodworking shop building furniture and fun stuff.
What Makes Me Laugh: My wife Kathy’s laugh.
What Makes Me Cry: Seeing people who are hurting; seeing people who need God in their lives; and seeing people touched by the power of God!
In A Previous Life (before GPC): For many years I was employed by a major corporation. We were transferred to numerous locations around the country. This allowed us to be a part of many churches with various “emphases.” This exposure provided us with lots of different experiences and the opportunity to grow in our faith. We learned that the church we want to be a part of is the church that seeks the presence of the Lord and his transforming, miraculous power.
Best Advice I Ever Received: I was told to marry my wife Kathy and never let her go. (This advice was given to me by my mom and dad.)
Things I Care About: I care about seeing the miraculous power of God change peoples’ lives. I care about spending time in God’s presence. I care about seeing people set free from bondage, pain, sickness, emotional stress, and all the attacks of the enemy.
Family Matters: The Lord has blessed me with Kathy, my wife of 36 years, who I have known since I was 5 years old. We became good friends in 7th grade and started dating after we graduated from high school. We were married three years later. The Lord then blessed us with three lovely daughters. Two of them, Kiersten and Ashley attend GPC. We have four grandsons and three granddaughters.
My Secret Talent: I hand-tie flies for fly fishing (see “What I Do For Fun”.)
My Favorite Cartoon Character and Why: Dennis the Menace – because he reminds me of one of my grandkids.
Grew Up Where: Brighton, Colorado – a small farming community north of Denver.
Favorite Movies: The Godfather, Sea Biscuit, Remember the Titans, Miracle, Tucker, and Patton
Food I Can’t Live Without: Italian food including ravioli with marinara sauce, fried green peppers, bread dipped in vinegar and oil, shadone cheese & meat pie, finished off with a tiramisu and a cup of black coffee.
What Made Me Want To Follow Jesus: I had been trying to do everything my way for many years. But, I finally figured out that my way wasn’t working. So I decided to follow Jesus and I have never looked back.
